Our Process

Va Harvest only uses Virginia grown hemp in its Broad Spectrum products. We purchase hemp from generational farmers utilizing time-tested organic techniques.

Va Harvest uses Co2 extraction of raw hemp this is the hallmark method for removing the resin from hemp. This method is the most expensive, cleanest and most effective method of extraction. The result is a raw mass of crude CBD resin, fats, terpenes, and waxes.

The raw CBD extract then goes through a process of purification to remove unwanted byproducts and contaminates. If carefully undergoes blending and emulsification with USP ethanol. This allows the crude CBD resin to solute into the alcohol.

The blended mixture is then placed in a below zero environment until separation of lipids (fats and waxes) is achieved. 

In this step the crude product undergoes  triple filterization to remove the precipitated lipids from the CBD-alcohol solution.

Now comes the process to remove the crude CBD from the alcohol. In this process the filtered solution is placed in a rotary evaporation in a heated process carried out under reduced atmospheric conditions (a vacuum). This allows for alcohol to evaporate and recondense after passing through a condenser to be utilized again for winterization of other extracted crude resin.

Now the crude CBD (Full Spectrum) is turned into Broad Spectrum. This involves a triple distillation process utilizing wiped film under a vacuum in order to reduce the boiling points of the cannabinoids. High temperatures can reduce the potency of the distillate. With this process residual lipids, terpenes and flavonoids (along with any undesirables such as pesticides) are removed leaving precious cannabinoids. This process decarboxylates the cannabinoid acids (activates) through the introduction of heat. This process also limits the levels of THC in the final Broad Spectrum CBD. 

Now the Broad Spectrum CBD is tested. In this process we utilize HPLC (high pressure liquid chromatography)  to ensure that the CBD is pure and clear of any chemicals. This testing is the standard of analysis for cannabinoids.
